She composed short songs as a child. She continued composing into middle school and has won composition competitions in the past such as National PTA Reflections, placing first in Montgomery County, and second in the state of Maryland in 2016, and honorable mention in the state of Maryland in 2017. She started her piano studies with Dr. Jeong Seon Choi at age eight. After only one year of study, she was selected to the top band at Herbert Hoover Middle School by audition. She became a clarinet student of Arianna Beyer, US Navy Band, in the fall of 2018, and was selected to the All County Junior Honors Band by audition in 9th grade. Currently a sophomore, she is a member of the audition-only top band at Winston Churchill High School. She was selected to the All County Senior Honors Band for the current school year, and selected by audition on piano and clarinet for Young Artists of America orchestra, the resident youth ensemble at Strathmore Hall. On clarinet this year, she has received honorable mention in the AAMS International Competition, third place in the YMIC International Solo and Ensemble Festival, and honorable mention in the City of Gaithersburg Young Artist Competition. To complement her instrumental music studies, she is currently enrolled in AP Music Theory.
